ROBBY KETCHELL

Velocity Senior Software Engineer

Robby has worked at the forefront of sport software and data science for over a decade. He was the Data Scientist for Team Sky and the INEOS Grenadiers, helping the teams win four Tour de France titles. Prior to TeamSky, Robby served as the Director of Sports Science for Garmin-Sharp Pro Cycling, where he was known as the team’s 'secret weapon' for the number of innovations he brought to the sport. Among his many technological achievements, Ketchell is the creator of the fastest speed suit in the world, the BAT Box (the world’s first on-board measuring device to replace a wind tunnel), and Platypus (cycling’s first big data analytics tool). Robby was most recently a critical member to the performance team for the INEOS 1:59 Challenge, which saw Eliud Kipchoge become the first person to run a marathon in less than two hours, in a time of 1:59:40.2.

Velocity Nutrition, Training and Physiology Consultant

Dr. Allen Lim is a sports physiologist, cycling coach, and a founder of Skratch Labs, a manufacturer of performance hydration mixes and the world’s first active nourishment company. Beginning his coaching career with Jonathan Vaughters’ TIAA-CREF cycling development team, Lim developed a method of testing for biological markers of performance enhancing drugs that led to cycling’s Biological Passport. Lim was director of sport science for Garmin and RadioShack cycling teams and is the only American scientist to have worked and cooked for teams at the Tour de France. Lim has worked with dozens of top American cyclists to improve their performance and nutrition.

Velocity Physiology and Training Consultant

Dr. Skiba is the CEO of PhysFarm Training Systems, which develops evidence-based training solutions for athletes and coaches. His work on the analysis of data high-intensity exercise and the W’(W-prime) balance model have fundamentally changed how scientists and coaches prescribe and analyze interval training and develop race strategy. Recruited to the Nike Breaking2 project, Dr. Skiba worked with three of the fastest runners on the planet in pursuit of the sub-two-hour marathon. He has coached a number of world champion and world record-holding endurance athletes, including Olympians. Dr. Skiba also serves on the medical board of USA Cycling.

Sebastian has been the head coach on professional cycling teams of the highest ranks for more than 10 year. After his studies of sport science and molecular human biology, Sebastian ran several research projects on modeling muscular energy metabolism and its adaptation to training. He became the head sport scientist of the T-Mobile professional cycling team at the age of only 28. The methods he applied to his coaching helped his athletes to win numerous victories at the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia, the Vuelta, as well as multiple World Championships and Olympic medals. Sebastian founded and is the chief scientist of INSCYD – the world’s most advanced physiological performance analysis software adopted by Wout van Aert, Mathieu van de Poel, Lionel Sanders and countless other champions.

TECH SPECS

Currently Velocity can communicate with Bluetooth devices via the Chrome platform on a PC. An IOS solution is in development as we continue to strive to make Velocity accessible across all devices and operating systems.
